Lucky number 21
Written by Kendall Yoder on Sep 30th, 2008
Hey ya'll, yea I turned 21 on tour in FL. Mom forgot to charge the camera batteries so we didn't take any pictures of the blessed event! haha We went down to Panama City Beach and ate at Skampy's, it was great. I got a slug of key lime pie with a candle in it. Then we went walking on the beach and I took some photos with my iPhone. You can check em out on our photo page.

I've had my birthday on the road for the last 6 years and i wouldn't trade it for nothing. Thanks for helping to keep us out here! God Bless ya'll.

Kendalls Highlights
Written by Kendall Yoder on Jul 8th, 2008
Here's just a couple of trip highlights for me. Now I have alot more! We did some pretty cool things on this last tour, but here's some stuff i needed to share with the world.

First off we have the Conklin concert in Leon, IA. Don't even try looking for it on the map cuz i don't think it's there. It was an anniversary concert for Ivan Stoltzfus, one of our good friends up there. It was us, Josh and Meg (i can't remember their last names, He was on nashville star though), and Jason Brown. It was LOUD! Just like we like it!

Then there's the Iown Mennonite School. Now we aren't mennonite anymore but we still used the auditorium. LoL. It was nice!

And last but not least, we see Galen Yoder on a bike. Now you may ask yourself, "I wonder how long it's been since he rode a bike"... Longer the i've been ALIVE!! It was a very interesting and somewhat disturbing sight to see my dad try to ride a bike. haha Thanks John Yoder for the experience.

Looking for What?
Written by Galen Yoder on Jun 4th, 2008
Our journey for self-discovery is not a search for new territory but for new eyes.

The first action people take when they are really not serious about change is to say "God told them to move out of the their present geographical location". The cry should be for new eyes to see their present situation. Skirting the issue is proof of a half-hearted commitment. Look in the mirror and you will find the problem. Passing blame is a cop-out, especially blaming God for all your uneducated decisions.

The biggest battle I have in prison is convincing these inmates that God did not put them there. It's easy to blame everybody else for our dysfunctions. Friends you are where you want to be, and you don't like your job, what job do you want.

A man was griping to a neighbor about his broke situation, when asked how much more money he needed he answered "just more". The neighbor handed him a nickel and said now you have more, hush.

Humans have been programed to look at the problem not through the problem. When we look through the problem a large percent of the time we will see ourselves, locked-up between our ears.

Bear With Us
Written by Kendall Yoder on May 15th, 2008
Yes that is a real, live, breathing, people eating bear! On one of our days off we went to Yosemite National Park.

Most awesome place you will ever visit! Waterfalls that are 2400 feet tall! We stood at the base of one of the falls on a bridge and just about got blown away!

So we saw the waterfalls, big cliffs, and the bears! This is actually just a cub here but they said that his mama wasn't far away, at which point i ran back to the car! Cute ain't he?

about
Dynamic music remains a key element in the success achieved by Straight from the Heart.

Straight from the Heart Band frequently performs in drug rehabs, Teen Challenge Centers, prisons, and various churches, including cowboy churches. Also singing annually at a Fourth of July celebration in Roxton, TX, Galen and Mary’s former hometown. Occasionally, they share the stage with nationally acclaimed artists, such as The Freemans, The Crabb Family, The Greenes, and The Pfeifers.

In November 2005, They showcased their talents at the Gibson Café in Nashville’s Opry Mills Mall. Then in December, they had the distinct honor of performing at the White House Annual Pageant of Peace. Recently, they were invited to perform at Silver Dollar City in Branson, MO; in five days, they presented sixteen shows.

The family’s Americana music features  beautiful, three-part harmony. Mary, Elisabet, and Kendall write and compose many of their songs.

Each year for the past four years, Straight from the Heart Band has released a new album. "A Journey Back in Time" is an all-acoustic, bluegrass collection of favorite hymns. Their live album, "The Yoder Family LIVE", was filmed at the beautiful Mountain Arts Center in Prestonsburg, KY.

In 2005, "This Is Our Country" launched a series of albums recorded in-house. "Our Christmas Album" was made available the following year; it includes both traditional and contemporary selections. The following year, 2007 they released their latest work “Nothing Like Love”. This is a 2 disc album, one being a collection of three music videos. These videos were produced,  recorded and taped in-house. To accompany the music videos is an audio disc.. This sound has turned country with Kendall and Mary writing many of the songs and Kendall producing and recording the project in-house.
